To facilitate the smooth processing of contributions, it's essential to note the details and timelines involved in IRA giving:

Providing Gift Information:

• Notification: Account administrators do not always put the donor's name on a check.

  • Letting us know that these are coming (donor name, amount, and when the check was initiated is very helpful

Key Date Information:

• US Mail: Checks sent via US Mail will have a gift date consistent with the postmark, NOT the date received

  • With IRAs, it's best to receive the checks prior to year-end​

• Courier Services: Checks sent by UPS or FedEx can be tricky for determining the exact date of the gift

  • It is best to send early to avoid the courier not being able to deliver until 2024 (and necessitating a gift in the new year)

• Stocks/Mutual Funds: Gifts involving stocks or mutual funds will have a gift date of when the shares reach our account, NOT necessarily the date the transfer was initiated​​​
